My love of Goldens came unexpectedly, like most of life's blessings. I went to the Westminster Dog Show to look at and learn about another breed. The Golden Retriever caught my eye and captured my heart. It's beauty was striking and the gentleness of these sweet dogs impressed me deeply. I fell in love. There was no denying it. This was the breed I was meant to have in my life.
I got my first Golden, Remo, in 1985 (see my Tribute To Remo). A year later, I brought home his sister Zoe. I selected the very best mates for them and started breeding the most beautiful puppies in the world. That was almost two decades ago and I have not stopped. Producing quality Golden Retrievers and sending them off to loving homes to live happy lives is a joy to me. I hope to do it for many years to come.
As it was then, the studs I use are all champions with great temperaments and all are health certified. My females, also fully health certified, do not show, as dog shows are tedious events and I don't want to stress my girls in any way. So, instead of having a career, my Golden girls stay at home with me! They play in our large rural yard, swim in the pool, and have a wonderful time.
I have put all my females in shows when they were puppies and they've all taken their class; meaning they were chosen as the best example of the breed among others their age and sex.
I breed for temperament because my puppies mostly go to families with children. I do not breed for show specifically, though my dogs are all structurally correct and healthy. All females bred or males used for stud have up-to-date medical certification for hip, eye and heart health.
I breed two litters a year with two different females, and the puppies that result are loved and doted on from the moment they come into the world. All are very well socialized, happy bundles of golden fur, and they go home to you with a written guarantee that they are sound in every way.
The beauty and wonderful personality of Blue Mountains Goldens are sought after as the perfect Golden Retriever by many in the arts. Other of his images of our dogs appear on this website!
Blue Mountains Goldens started with Remo and Zoe, both of whom lived to age 15! Since then, I have shared my life with Ginger, Molly, Jade, Angel, and Junior and all have produced exceptionally well-tempered, beautiful puppies.
